Change Your Perspective and Change the World

This is a story of turning the sourest lemons into the sweetest lemonade...

When Corrina completed radiation several months ago, she requested that we send Andrew the mask that she wore during treatments for him to transform it into art. This mask carried a tremendous amount of fear and negative energy around it as it’s sole purpose and reason for being was to bolt Corrina’s head to a table and immobilize her so that targeted radiation could bombard her with pinpoint accuracy (I’m including images from that process).

Since then, Andrew has been working behind the scenes to recontext Corrina’s radiation mask and, in so doing, he has given us the greatest gift - power over that experience.

Today was the reveal of the piece and to say we were overwhelmed is a profound understatement. Andrew has been able to take a shallow object of dark fear and transform it into a symbol of beauty, depth, and meaning.

The process of creating art out of this painful experience illustrates our collective ability to conquer fear if we choose to look deeper and differently. Where once there was a restrictive barrier, now there are dimensions of layered beauty.

The piece itself draws my attention to multiple levels that I think represent Corrina. At her core, is a glowing orb of golden light which is her true essence. Although the shell is ultimately transparent, it is also beautiful on its surface. The experience is captivating on both levels and radiates her goddess energy - we are spiritual beings living in a physical world just as much as we are physical beings living in the spiritual.

Thank you Andrew for your love and courage to deliver this transformation. It is one of the greatest, most important gifts any of us has ever received. It is a reminder that ultimately fear is temporal and we all have nothing to worry about in the long run.
